FACULTY OFFICE HOURS

Faculty are expected to have at least two office hours, which should be posted and kept regularly. Office hours should be open to students without prior appointment. Office hours are important for addressing problems related to the course, and also for allowing students to develop personal relationships with faculty.

CAREER ADVISING

The Career Center, Strathmore Building (501 Westwood Plaza), 825-2981, offers a broad range of programs including career planning, internships, job referrals. The Career Center’s Educational Career Services assist those interested in a teaching career.

PERSONAL ADVISING

The UCLA Counseling Center, John Wooden Center, (24-hour telephone access line: 310-825-0768), provides a wealth of services to students. Their mission is to support students' intellectual, social and emotional growth, increase academic success, reduce attrition and promote the emotional resilience and wellness of the entire campus community. Their services are strictly confidential and available to all registered undergraduate, graduate and professional school students. Individual services are free to students enrolled in the University's Student Health Insurance Plan, and only $15 for students with private insurance. Workshops and group treatments are free.  

The campus Ombudsperson can inform students of their rights, suggest solutions to problems, and can sometimes mediate a dispute between students and campus offices. 105 Strathmore Building, 501 Westwood Plaza, 825-7627.

Staff in the Student Legal Services office will meet with students on a walk-in basis between 9:00 am and 12:00 noon. A239 Murphy Hall, 825-9894.

The Office of the Dean of Students is committed to the personal and intellectual growth and development of UCLA students. Their website offers useful links to a myriad of programs and services. 

INDIVIDUALIZED TEACHING AND TUTORING

UCLA Residential Life offers are a variety of workshops are to improve study skills, time managment skills, note taking, choosing a major, getting admitted to graduate or professional schools and more.
