The African American Music Ensemble, the Music of Mexico Ensemble, and the Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz Performance Ensemble take you on a musical journey. Grammy-winner Jesús Guzmán and the Music of Mexico Ensemble leads the audience through a variety of traditional Latin styles including son jalisiense, son huasteco, bolero, ranchera, and huapango. Grammy-nominee James Roberson and The African American Music Ensemble follow, performing gospel music, including Negro spirituals and traditional and contemporary gospel music. Rounding out the evening is The Sphere Project, a series of collaborative compositions created by the members of the Thelonious Monk Institute Ensemble, bringing together jazz, classical, and world music.
