TOEFL or IELTS score. (More information about English Requirements can be found on the Graduate Division website).
Students planning to come on a visa are also required to submit the “UCLA Confidential Financial Statement” and the necessary supporting documentation before the I-20 or other visa form can be sent. The Financial Statement does not need to be in by the application deadline; it may come in as late as January 30. However, visa forms cannot be sent until and unless the University offers admission and you have shown the necessary financial resources.
After Our Decision Has Been Made
You can read and print your letter by going to the same application menu and clicking on Decision Status. The decisions should be available by March 15. Please, do not call. The decision is personal, confidential information, available only to you and, as such, cannot be given out over the phone or by email where identity cannot be verified. By law, it cannot be given out to your mother, brother, fiancé, or significant other--only to you.
If You Are Not Accepted
If you have questions about the reasons for our decision, you should write (electronically or on paper) to the head or chair of the department. Likewise, if you feel that some special situation was not explained fully in your application or that for some reason your application did not adequately portray your true potential, you can request a reconsideration of the decision by writing to the Chair of your Department, giving specific reasons for your request. (We recommend that you actually send the letter to Sandra McKerroll so that the letter can be put with the dossier and forwarded to the appropriate person.
