Ruth Price is the owner of the popular Los Angeles jazz performance space, The Jazz Bakery. Part of the reason for the success of this venue is Price’s own musical knowledge and good taste. She is an excellent jazz singer and knows what it takes to create the right environment for music. Price established a career as a singer of jazz and American popular song, having performed, recorded or toured with such jazz greats as Mel Torme, Shelley Manne, Red Garland, John Coltrane, Philly Joe Jones, Dizzy Gillespie, Billy Taylor, Stan Getz, Sonny Stitt, Sonny Rollins, the Charles Mingus Quintet, Art Pepper, Victor Feldman, Russ Freeman and Hank Jones. A jazz poll winner, she is highly respected for her knowledge and performances of those rare gems in American popular song. She continues to record and receive critical acclaim for her work.

In recent years Price has also enjoyed the teaching experience. In addition to teaching at UCLA, she has taught at the renowned Dick Grove School of Music. She feels that two of her strong points as a vocal teacher are helping the students with diction and helping them to relax and incorporate natural movement while on stage.
