Nazir Jairazbhoy has been selected as one of the five recipients of the 2008 Dickson Emeritus Professor Award. Professor Jairazbhoy was a faculty member in ethnomusicology at UCLA from the mid-1970s to the mid-1990s. He is one of the major persons responsible for the establishment of the UCLA Department of Ethnomusicology and became the first chair of the department.
