Ethnomusicology Lab

The Ethnomusicology and Systematic Musicology Laboratory, Room B544 in Schoenberg Music Building, is used for laboratory research as well as graduate seminars. The main room (ca. 600 square feet) is called the Seminar Room and is used for classes that need to have close proximity to laboratory and field-research equipment. The room can be partitioned using an acoustically isolating divider so that seminars and research work can coexist peacefully.

Equipment provided in this room includes computers, video equipment, Windows-based recording stations, other stations which allow users to do scanning, image processing, webpage design, and more.

Fieldwork equipment for audio and video recording is available for loan to ethnomusicology students and faculty.

Enter campus from Hilgard on Westholme (heading West), and Schoenberg Music Building will be directly in front of you. Parking structure 2 will be on your left-hand side immediately after the turn onto Westholme. When you enter Schoenberg Music Building through the East doors, you will be on the basement floor.
