Description
CORNELL GLEE CLUB IN LOS ANGELES
January 15, 2011
Schoenberg Hall, 8:00 pm
The Cornell University Glee Club will be appearing at UCLA's Schoenberg Hall on Saturday, January 15th. The Glee Club's Los Angeles Concert is part of its 2011 California Tour -- a tour that also features performances at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, Stanford's Memorial Church, and an appearance in the Desert Friends of Music Concert Series.
The program will feature both classical and contemporary men's choral music, including the Los Angeles premiere of UCLA Professor David Lefkowitz's new work for men's choir, Four Rubaiyat. The concert will feature other works by Cornell-California composers, such as Byron Adams DMA '84, Joseph Gregorio '01, and a new work by David Conte DMA '83 entitled Crossing the Bar. The Glee Club's a cappella subset, The Hangovers, will also perform a few pop favorites, and the program will close with beloved Cornell Songs including the Evening Song and Alma Mater.
Director Emeritus, Thomas A. Sokol will lead a pre-concert discussion panel featuring Director, Scott Tucker and UCLA Professor David Lefkowitz '86'87. This panel will begin at 7:15 PM.
