DR. JENNIFER JUDKINS is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of UCLA (Ph.D., 1987). Her academic interests include aesthetics and arts education, and she has recently been named to the National Board of Trustees for the American Society for Aesthetics. At UCLA, she teaches Music Bibliography for Performers, Percussion Techniques, and she also serves as the Faculty Graduate Advisor.

Professor Judkins has published many articles and book reviews in the Journal of Aesthetics and Art Criticism, the British Journal of Aesthetics, the Journal of Aesthetic Education, Philosophy and LiteratureCanadian Philosophical ReviewsPercussive Notes, and Medical Problems of Performing Artists.  She has also given invited papers for the Canadian Learned Societies, the Performing Artists Medical Association, the American Society for Aesthetics, and the American Musicological Society. She is a co-author of The Routledge Companion to Philosophy and Music.

In the musical world, she has performed for many years as a percussionist with the L.A. Philharmonic Orchestra and New Music Group, the L.A. Baroque Orchestra, the Santa Barbara Chamber Orchestra, and the Japan America Symphony, working under such conductors as Myung-Wun Chung, Leonard Slatkin, Michael Tilson Thomas, Christopher Hogwood, Witold Lutoslawski, and Pierre Boulez.
