Schoenberg Music Building was named after the 20th-century composer Arnold Schoenberg, who was a member of the Department of Music faculty in the 1940s.  Housed in Schoenberg are the departments of Ethnomusicology, Music, and Musicology.  The building includes a recital hall, Jan Popper Theater, and main concert hall, Schoenberg Hall, both of which are fully equipped for audio recording.  The building also houses the Music Library and Ethnomusicology Archive as well as numerous classrooms, practice rooms, an orchestra room, band room, choral room, organ studio, Ethnomusicology performance rooms, an Ethnomusicology and Systematic Musicology Laboratory, and the Henry Mancini Media Lab.

Classroom Reservations

Academic course scheduling requests should be submitted by contacting the assistant to the chair of the department.

To reserve a classroom for an event unrelated to a Herb Alpert School of Music course, complete the Classroom Request form. You will receive a response shortly. 

All requests must be made at least two business days in advance for a reservation.

If you wish to use a classroom within two business days, unscheduled classrooms are available on a first come, first serve basis, and will fall under the rules and regulations of the practice rooms.

Theater Rentals
