MARGARET LYSY was born in Belfast, N. Ireland, and has been invited frequently to perform with international chamber ensembles both on violin and viola. Recent concert and festival appearances have taken her to Italy, England, Argentina, Canada and the United States. Her partners in chamber groups have included Jeffrey Swann, James Campbell, members of the Avalon Quartet, Barbara Westphal, Lucy Shelton, Charles André Linale, Anthony Marwood, Paul Coletti and Alberto Lysy, among others.

A recipient of several prizes and scholarships, Margaret Lysy's studies were pursued in England at the Royal Northern College in Manchester and the Royal College in London, studying with the noted pedagogues Richard Deakin, Felix Andrievsky and later Mauricio Fuks in Canada.

She now makes her home in Los Angeles, dedicating herself to the art of pedagogy. While living in Montreal, she was a driving force behind a dynamic outreach program for youth and Music, initiating a personal and original method of group teaching for string students. Enthusiastically committed to enriching young minds and developing musical skills, she founded and directed various string ensembles while residing in Canada, and was the Concertmaster of Montreal's Ensemble Sinfonia for the 2002-2003 season.
