Students who have completed ETHNOMU 11ABC are eligible to apply for an emphasis.


FALL DUE DATE:
Friday of the 5th Week

SPRING DUE DATE: Friday of 8th Week

TO APPLY FOR AN EMPHASIS:

Students must submit the following to the Undergraduate Advisor, Alfred Bradley by the due date.

(1) An up-to-date transcript

(2) Application Coversheet including the signed approval of a faculty member (see below).

  • For Performance and/or Composition, the coversheet must be signed by a Faculty Emphasis Advisor from the Performance and/or Composition area who will also serve as the advisor for your project. Click here to see the list of eligible faculty. The coversheet must also be signed by an ensemble director (performance emphasis only).
  • For Public Ethnomusicology, the coversheet must be signed by a Faculty Emphasis Advisor from the Public Ethnomusicology area who will also serve as the advisor for your project. Click here to see the list of eligible faculty.
  • For Scholarly/Research, the coversheet must be signed by a Faculty Emphasis Advisor from the Scholarly/Research area who will also serve as the advisor for your project. Click here to see the list of eligible faculty.
  • For General World Music, no application is required.

GPA requirement
Students who choose the performance/composition, public ethnomusicology, or scholarly/research emphases must have, at the time of the application, a 3.5 grade-point average in departmental lower division core courses and a cumulative 3.00 GPA (3.25 for scholarly/research).
