INSTRUCTOR REFERRALS

 

FOR THOSE SEEKING MUSIC INSTRUCTORS AND/OR PERFORMERS: The UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music provides the names of its students and other individuals who are available to teach or perform solely as a convenience to the public and in response to public demand. All individuals providing music instruction or performing are acting as independent contractors. Their services are not endorsed or guaranteed in any way by the School or The Regents of the University of California, or their respective officers, employees, and agents; the School does not conduct background checks on listed providers. Additionally, neither the School nor The Regents is a party to any such arrangements. Any disputes that arise are strictly between the provider and the retaining party, who retains such services at his/her/its own risk.

     Years of teaching experience:  My experience teaching ranges from the highest levels of competitive brass ensembles to middle school and beginner students. During my Undergraduate work I maintained a private studio of 3-4 low brass students each semester. I am a member of the Carolina Crown brass staff, who recently won the "High-Brass" award in the Drum Corps International World Championships. This past spring, I traveled to Thailand and taught 4 bands, one of which went on to receive a 2nd place finish in the All-Thailand music competition. I am currently pursuing a Master's Degree in Euphonium Performance. I teach two undergraduate music education majors private lessons, I conduct the symphonic band, and help teach the marching band.

His work as an arts-educator has included appointments throughout the San Francisco Bay Area, as well as teaching through UCLA's Music Outreach P! rogram. He was co-founder of the SF Bay area non-profit Toones, After-school Music Enrichment program.

Her private students regularly serve as principal section leaders in their school orchestras and are accepted to the CODA All-State orchestra festival. She is currently a teaching artist for the Los Angeles Philharmonic and is on the music faculty of The Buckley School and Cornerstone Music Conservatory. Lindsey is a member of the American String Teacher Association.

Particular areas of focus are collegiate-preparatory technique training for junior high/high school students and helping adult students discover (or re-discover) their passion for string playing. Her diverse performance experience, from Baroque performance practice to studio recording sessions, contributes to a breadth of expertise and ability to teach a range of interests.
