The Department thanked Dr. Jacqueline Cogdell DjeDje for five years of dedicated service as chair, with a reception on December 1, 2010. Acknowledging her contributions were Tim Rice, Director of the UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music; Chris Waterman, Dean of the School of the Arts and Architecture; graduate student Katie Stuffelbeam; graduate student Lara Rann (who sang Donnie Hathaway's "Someday We'll All Be Free);" Martha Rider, Management Services Officer for the UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music, Departments of Ethnomusicology and Music; Maureen Russell, Archive Librarian; and Mattie Gardette of Trinity Baptist Church in Los Angeles.
