Ensemble History: Near East Ensemble

The Near East Ensemble was created by A.J. Racy who was hired by the Music Department as a tenure-track professor in 1978. The course was first offered during the 1979-80 academic year as Music 71-171N. Professor Racy has remained the only instructor of the course. A number of community musicians have performed with the group over the years.
