Ensemble History: Anglo-American Ensemble

The Anglo-American Ensemble was originally created by students during the 1990s, led first by graduate student Michael Harshberger, later by Amy Corin and after that, by Amy Wooley. The ensemble was offered from 1991-96 as ESM 91Z, Anglo-American Ensemble or “Old Time American Music.” It was offered as a course again from 1998-2001 as Ethnomu 91Z, Anglo-American Ensemble. The ensemble was revived again by undergraduate student Tom Stanton and offered from 2007 to the present as Ethnomu 91/161Z, with Anthony Seeger as the instructor. The current informal name of the ensemble is “Bluegrass and Old-Time String Ensemble.”
