Music History Undergradaute Wins Eileen Southern Travel Award | Print |

Alysse Padilla, a senior in Music History, was awarded the Eileen Southern Travel Fund award to attend the 2010 national meeting of the American Musicological Society in Indianapolis, Indiana this November 4th through the 7th.

This award is given to students who show promise in the field of Musicology, and who embrace and represent the cultural diversity of the field. This award allows high acheiving undergraduates to attend the AMS national meeting to expose them to different aspects of the field including listening to papers from scholars and introductions to the vartiey of musicological programs, faculty and students.

Ms. Padilla will be applying to graduate school in Musicology this fall and won the Best Senior Thesis award last year for her work titled "The Musicality of Mae West: A Study of Musical Principles in Speech and Voice."
