Elizabeth Macy’s research addresses the function of music tourism in post-disaster economies; in particular, it focuses on the function of music tourism in the recovery and rebuilding of post-Katrina New Orleans and in Bali after the 2002 and 2005 terrorist bombings. To date, her research has resulted in several conference papers and invited lectures. In fall 2008, she was a lecturer in the Music Department at The Colorado College, in Colorado Springs, Colorado, where she taught courses on world music and non-Western music theory.
