Eidsheim Awarded Miles Levin | Print |

Please join us in congratulating our own Professor Nina Eidsheim, the recipient of this year’s Miles Levin Musical Essay Award.

Nina Eidsheim'’s prize-winning essay was titled "“On Haikus, Research, Underwater Singing and Listening."” In conjunction with the award, she read her essay to the distinguished members of The Mannes Institute at the awards ceremony on June 26, 2010.

The Miles Levin Music Essay Award is given in honor of Miles Alpern Levin, a young essayist whose life and work were tragically cut short. The goal of the award is to recognize creativity and courage in musical prose by encouraging music scholars to write and communicate in a more informal, personal, embodied, and readable style than that of conventional scholarly discourse.

For more information on the award please visit The Mannes Institute website.
