Logan Clark comes to the Ethnomusicology Program from a diverse background of experience not only in music, but also in the anthropological, legal, political and non-profit fields.  A Richter Scholar at Occidental College, she conducted senior thesis research on hip hop and race redefinition in South Africa.  She returns to the academic realm after several years working for Los Angeles non-profits.  Check your local farmers market where you may catch her singing with her folk music group, “Jam‘n Biscuits.” Ryan Koons is an ethnomusicologist, oral historian, professional musician, and documentary filmmaker.  His research interests include the music and dance of native America, northern Europe, and Europe-influenced North America.  His interests also include historical ethnomusicology, organology, and archival practice.  Koons is the co-director of World Community Productions, a production company focused on examining and disseminating information about community-based traditions.
linford robinson
Born and raised in Oakland, California, Scott Linford graduated magna cum laude from Brown University with a degree in Ethnic Studies and English. He is the director of two documentary films: Every Counts, following four New Orleans musicians through their recovery from Hurricane Katrina, and Farther Along, profiling a diverse group of older adults who play music in Seattle. A guitarist, banjoist, and occasional luthier, Scott's academic interests are americana, latinoamericana, and film-acana. Larry Robinson is a native of Long Island, New York. He received a Bachelors Degree of Music in Viola Performace and Music Composition from the Conservatory of Music at CUNY-Brooklyn College. He is interested in the indigenous and popular music and culture of Taiwan. His interests also include the consumption and distribution of popular music between Mandarin speaking countries throughout East and Southeast Asia.

Vivek Virani received his BA in music at the University of Virginia in 2008, and since then he has been studying tabla full-time under Indian tabla guru Pandit Suresh Talwalkar. His main interests are Hindustani classical music, and devotional music from all cultures and religions. At UCLA, he looks forward to studying how different musical traditions use sound as a means of spiritual expression. After earning a Bachelor’s of Music Education with an emphasis in saxophone and jazz from Indiana University, Dave Wilson lived in Macedonia for two years where he worked with local folk, jazz, and rock musicians both in the studio and in live performance settings.  In addition to his interest in the Macedonian folk tradition, Dave’s academic work will focus on how traditional and popular music relate to national identity, politics, class divisions, and ethnic tensions.  Recently, Dave has been also working as a session musician, composer, and on tours throughout the world.  His musical work can be viewed at www.davewilsonmusic.com.
