In addition to teaching conducting, DONALD NEUEN regularly directs the UCLA Chorale and the UCLA Chamber Singers.  He has guest conducted with choruses and orchestras in 40 states, as well as in Canada, Mexico, Europe, and Asia, and also currently serves as  the Artistic Director of the Angeles Chorale.  Neuen previously served as professor of conducting and director of choral activities at the Eastman School of Music.  He also served on the faculties of Ball State University and the Universities of Wisconsin and Tennessee. Earlier, he was director of choral activities/assistant conductor for Robert Shaw and the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra.  Neuen has studied extensively with choral conductors Robert Shaw, Roger Wagner, Lara Hoggard, and musicologists Julius Herford and Alfred Mann.



His editions and compositions are published by Lawson-Gould and Hinshaw Music, Inc.  He is a national patron of Delta Omicron International Music Fraternity, the recipient of two outstanding alumnus awards from Ball State University, and a member of the National Honorary Music Fraternity, Pi Kappa Lambda. Eastman recordings under Neuen's direction include "Quattro Madrigali" by Christopher Rouse, for the New Music Recording Project; Brahm's "Zigeunerlieder; Op. 13" (Pantheon Records); and Alfred Mann's recent edition of Handel's "Messiah" (Word Records-Medallion Series.)  His M.M. and B.M. are from Ball State University.
