UCLA Alumni Symposium and DinnerSymposium Theme: Fifty Years of Ethnomusicology at UCLA Tuesday, November 9, 2010 In 2010-11, UCLA will celebrate 50 years of ethnomusicology with the theme "Worlds of Music at UCLA: 50 Years of Ethnomusicology." As part of the yearlong 50th anniversary celebration, the UCLA Department of Ethnomusicology is organizing a symposium in which several UCLA ethnomusicology graduates and non-alumni will make brief presentations on six topics: intellectual and institutional history, geographical regions, UCLA methods (bi-musicality, melograph, archiving, and publications), systematic musicology, professional worlds of ethnomusicologists, and UCLA and the world. UCLA alumni, faculty, and staff -- Free (up to and including October 4) and $25 thereafter. Note: Registration is required for all, even for those who do not have to pay a fee. Dinner: $35.00 (Cost for everyone in attendance except presenters).Deadline: October 4, 2010 The alumni symposium and dinner are open to all who would like to attend.
