Research interests: female vocality in the 16th century Calvinist Reformation; the 20th-century early music revival; music and social change; music of 16th and 17th century Latin America and Spain; historiography.

Mindy earned a B.A. in Music from the University of California, Berkeley (2002), where she graduated with high honors and was awarded the Joan C. Reutinger Prize in Piano Performance (2000). Awarded a Chancellor's Distinguished Fellowship, she completed an M.A. in Ethnomusicology at the University of California, Riverside (2009) with a thesis titled, "Upward Bound: Music Listening and the American Dream in a Mexican American Community."

At UCLA, she has received an Andrew W. Mellon Fellowship of Distinction and a Diebold Fellowship. She recently received a Graduate Summer Research Mentorship (2010) to develop her project titled "Hero or Harpy: The Female Voice in the Calvinist Reformation" under the mentorship of Prof. Olivia Bloechl.

Currently, Mindy plays the fiddle and sings in Peasblossom, a group specializing in medieval and renaissance dance music and performs with the UCLA Early Music Ensemble.
