When the day's work was finished, people would gather to sing, play and dance. Live music was everywhere, and people of all classes and occupations clamored to be a part of it. This concert will bring a sampling of early European "pop music," music that was written for the people and performed by them Come and hear some of the popular songs of the past that are still full of vitality, great melodies, charm and beauty. You will get a taste of love songs, devotional songs, and a few surprises along the way. Among the selections will be works by Palestrina, Josquin and di Lasso, as well as selections from Purcell's Dido and Aeneas.
