ROOM RESERVATIONS

Regular classrooms must be scheduled through Kathleen Moon in the Technical Services Office located in Room 1309, or you may call 825-4760 or 825-5675. Technical Services also schedules the Conference Room (2619) and the Green Room (1230).

Ethnomusicology Performance Rooms are scheduled by Donna Armstrong, Chair’s Assistant, 2539 SMB.

The scheduling priority is as follows: classrooms, sections/labs, lessons, other. With the exception of class scheduling, rooms will be booked on a first-come basis. However, individual bookings may be preempted if there are class changes. All regular classrooms contain a piano, and audio equipment consisting of a CD, cassette, and record player. A key must be checked out from your department to gain access to this equipment. If repairs are needed, contact the Technical Services Office.

The theaters, Schoenberg Hall (1100) and Jan Popper Theater (1200) must be scheduled through Michele Eckart 310-206-1095.

OMNI LOCK CODES

Certain high security rooms (labs, computer rooms, electronic music rooms, performance rooms with rare instruments) are secured by use of an Omnilock digital computer door lock. These rooms may be accessed during posted hours only and by the consent of faculty or technicians in charge of the rooms.

Faculty are not to share their code with anyone. Students are not to share their code with anyone. If a person is found with a code that was not issued to them, that code will be deleted from the system. If a student’s code is deleted because it was given to someone else, it will not be re-issued to the student for the remainder of the quarter. If a faculty code is deleted because it was given to someone else, the faculty person must get permission from their chair in order to be re-issued a code.

In order for students to get an Omnilock code, or to activate their Bruin ID card, they must complete an Omnilock Agreement form in Student Services. These forms must be signed by the appropriate faculty person, which signifies faculty consent.

Access to rooms with Omnilocks is only granted during the quarter the student is officially enrolled in the appropriate course.

The Ethnomusicology Lab and the Ethnomusicology performance room entrances use Omnilocks that require Bruin ID card activation to gain access. The Early Music Room, The Percussion Studio, The Drum Set Room, and the Music Education Room entrances also have Omnilocks; however these require a code to gain access.

To obtain a code for yourself, please see Angela Su in 1642 SMB, (310) 206-5002.

MUSIC DEPARTMENT PRACTICE ROOMS

A fee for the use of practice rooms is required to obtain a practice room card and access. For additional information, please visit the Music Facilities Services Fee (MFSF) web site www.music.ucla.edu/students/practice_rooms.htm.

Lost Practice Room Cards cost $20 to replace. Don’t lose your card or let it get damaged! Students will be charged $25 for lost keys and keys not turned in.

Practice Room Keys Students with yellow or pink cards will also be given a B608 key to unlock those rooms. A student may keep the key until he or she graduates. At that time keys must be returned or otherwise they will be considered lost.

CSO SERVICES

All rooms are routinely checked by Community Service Officers (CSOs) to make sure that they are being used properly. Repeated misuse of the performance and practice rooms can result in a suspension of practice room privileges. CSOs are there for the safety and security for the students. Please cooperate with their requests.

MUSIC DEPARTMENT INSTRUMENT LOCKERS

Lockers are available only with the purchase of a practice room card. Please visit web site www.music.ucla.edu/students/practice_rooms.htm for information regarding purchase and use of department lockers.
