Course Description
This course is directed toward all interested students and does not presume any prior knowledge of music theory, history, or techniques of analysis. The course textbook, Jazz Styles: History and Analysis, 9th Edition by Mark C. Gridley (2006), provides essential background to Prof. Wilson’s lectures, and will serve as a secondary reference to the class notes.
