COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Emphasis is placed on performance practices and the history of LatinJazz music. Clave concept, Guajira, Son Montuno, Salsa, Descarga style and be-bop improvisation in LatinJazz will be thoroughly discussed, rehearsed and performed.
COURSE REQUIREMENTS: Applicable ability and acceptance by Professor.
GRADING:
Grades will be based on the following criteria:
1) Quality of class performance, participation, and assignments 40%
2) Attendance and class conduct 20%
4) Improvement of individual ability and effort 20%
5) Professionalism and conduct during rehearsals and performances 20%
