Bibliography Assignment
Directions: Choose one of the seven journal sets. Discuss each journal in your set. Your critique should include:
1) the general makeup of the journal (e.g., articles, reviews, current publications or bibliographic listings, etc.); 2) the editorship tenure or the editor’s stature in his/her respective area, journal writing style (refer to submission guide for writers, etc.); 3) the overall types of topics/articles (are most written about music, anthropological in scope, etc.); and 4) an annotated bibliography of five articles (not reviews) of each journal. Articles selected section should pertain to a genre of music or music of YOUR research interest; in non-music journals try and select articles on music or on a similar research topic, whether that be music or non-music topic. Do note that depending on the number of students in the course, some of the journals may be shifted into your set. If the class has more than seven people, two of more people can do the same journal set. After you have completed each of the six (tba), compare and/or contrast the journals, considering their importance to the field of Ethnomusicology and/or to their respective disciplines. Paper should have bibliographic section of “all” articles discussed in this assignment. Refer to the Chicago Manual of Style, 15th Edition for queries regarding annotated bibliographic style. Please indicate to class and instructor the set of your choice by the third week of the quarter. Bibliography Assignment s due on week 10. Please be prepared to do a class presentation
