Heth, Charlotte
From 1994 to 1999 Charlotte Heth served as the Assistant Director for Public Programs at the National Museum of the American Indian. Formerly, she was Professor of Ethnomusicology, Chairman of the Department of Ethnomusicology, and Assistant Dean for the School of Arts and Architecture at UCLA. Heth also served as President for the Society of Ethnomusicology. She has produced numerous audio and video recordings on Native American music and culture, including, Music of the Sacred Fire: the Stomp Dance of the Oklahoma Cherokee, Navajo Traditional Music, Music of the Creek and Cherokee Indians in Religion and Government, and Songs of Earth, Water, Fire, and Sky: Music of the American Indian. Heth is also the author of Native American Dance: Ceremonies and Social Traditions (1992).

Parts of the collection are described in the collector's Ph.D. dissertation, "The Stomp Dance of the Oklahoma Cherokee: A Study of Contemporary Practice with Special Reference to the Illinois District Council Ground" (1975). Contents: Cherokee stomp dance music, Cherokee church hymns and gospel songs, and miscellaneous songs and dances.
