Rosellini, Jim

Jim Rosellini graduated from the University of Washington in 1967 with a major in French. Following graduation, Rosellini worked as a Peace Corps volunteer in Burkina Faso (then Upper Volta). In July 1969, he proposed a music and oral history documentation program to the Ministry of Education of Upper Volta. In September 1969, the Peace Corps and the government of Upper Volta approved an extension of service for him to organize the Upper Volta Sound Archives Project). During the next five years, Rosellini recorded, photographed, and filmed the music, dance, and oral traditions of Burkina Faso. Rosellini is the founder and current Executive Director of the African Family Film Foundation.
