Reid, James Larry
James Reid received his Ph.D. from UCLA in 1977. His dissertation is entitled "The Komagaku Repertory of Japanese Gagaku (Court Music): A Study of Contemporary Performance Practice." He received his BA and MA from the University of Texas at Austin where he studied music, English literature, and musicology. Reid received two fellowships to study music in Japan: the Asia Foundation Fellowship (1973-74) and later a Fulbright-Hays Research Fellowship (1976-77).
