Lieberman, Fredric
Fredric Lieberman, Ph.D., has taught at Brown University and the University of Washington. He is currently a Professor of Music and Chair of the Music Department at the University of California, Santa Cruz. He has served as editor of the journals Ethnomusicology and Asian Music and has produced field recordings and films. He served as an ethnomusicological consultant to musician and world music supporter, Mickey Hart, on several projects, including the Grammy award-winning Planet Drum. He is the author/compiler of A Chinese Zither Tutor, Chinese Music: An Annotated Bibliography, and numerous articles and recordings on Chinese and other Asian music. His current interests include American popular music, organology, composition, American vernacular musics, and Asian musics.
