Burman-Hall, Linda Carol
Before receiving her MA and Ph.D. in music from Princeton University, Linda Carol Burman-Hall earned her BA in music from the University of California, Los Angeles. Her Ph.D. thesis, entitled "Southern American Folk Fiddling: Context and Style" (1973), is accompanied by a number of recordings (Tape 10101). Her research interests include early keyboards (harpsichord, chamber organ, fortepiano), figured bass, chamber music, and Indonesian musics, particularly Indonesian Gamelan. Prior to her current professorial appointment in the Music Department at the University of California, Santa Cruz, Burman-Hall was a lecturer in ethnomusicology and music theory at UCLA.
